American Gemstones

American Gemstones have been mined since this country was only 13 states. From Maine and North Carolina to Colorado, California and Oregon, our gems rival those of the rest of the world. Many of the mines are small operations who produce only a few pounds per year. Environmental and economic restrictions keep them small. It's a double edged sword, we would like a great quantity of the Earth's treasures to wear and experience, but we also want our land and envoronment protected from ruin.

The list that follows are gems we have been able to verify the source. Often we mine these materials ourselves and spend about 30 - 40 days a year in the field. Other gems we work directly with the miners or mine owners so we have first choice at the best rough.

Other rocks, stones and gems are still out there. See our "All About Gems" page to learn about gemstones from the US and the rest of the world.
